New Snow, Terrain, and Exciting Events Highlight the Weekend at Keystone Resort

Keystone Resort received another inch of fresh snow overnight Thursday, bringing the resort’s two-day total to 5”, and 8” for the week. The new snow has allowed the resort to open additional terrain, including Erikson Bowl. Keystone is now boasting 2791 acres of available terrain, including 91% of the resort’s hike-to terrain. For the most experienced and adventurous skiers and riders, the resort’s Keystone Adventure Tours is open, granting guests accessed to untouched terrain and an unforgettable cat skiing experience.

The new snow will also provide great conditions for this weekend’s Burton Mountain Festival event. Friday through Sunday, virtually the entire 2012 Burton hardgoods line will be on tap at the Mountain House base area for riders to test at no charge. Saturday and Sunday, Keystone’s A51 Terrain Park will be the place to be, with $7000 up for grabs in a Burton pro-test event featuring rail jam and slopestyle contests. As part of the Burton Pro-Test, amateur riders can also win four wildcard spots to compete in the US Open pre-qualifiers, and all Pro-Test events are 4Star TTR World Snowboard Tour events. Event registration is just $10 and will take place at the Mountain House.

The youngest rippers won’t be left out of the Mountain Festival events, with a Burton Riglet park available Saturday and Sunday in the Mountain House Discovery area. Burton will provide free equipment demos, with snowboards, boots and bindings sized for children as young as three. Kids will also be able to try out Burton's revolutionary Riglet Reel, a specially designed attachment for the nose of youth snowboards that makes learning easier than ever. Certified snowboard instructors will help kids learn to ride on mini features including boxes, ramps and rails.

For the 21-and over crowd, Warren Station’s Vodka on the Rockies event, Saturday February 11th, is the perfect way to end a great day on the slopes. Featuring flavored vodka varieties from Three Olives Vodka, the event will include tasting, pairings, mixers and live music. A photo booth, DJ, and shot luge will keep the party going all night. Tickets are available at Keystoneresort.com or day-of at Warren Station in Keystone’s River Run Village.
