Spring skiing has hit the high country with gorgeous weather and warm temperatures making for enjoyable spring conditions, incredible après, outdoor events for the whole family and goggle tans galore. What better way to celebrate the beginning of spring than heading out to Keystone Resort closing weekend, April 7 and 8,for unbeatable lodging discounts, amusing events and mountain-side live music.
Sam Bush featured artist at River Run Rocks Concert Series. After cruising down the slopes kick off the weekend by stopping by the RiverRunVillage Plaza for an awesome FREE concert. Grab a cold beer from one of the many beverage carts, order some appetizers from an array of food vendors, take a seat at one of the numerous restaurant decks and let Sam Bush acoustically soothe at this amazing après scene. Sam Bush’s music is primarily bluegrass intermixed with jazz, rock and funk making for the perfect sound to finish off an epic day. Feel free to bring the kids because this family-friendly affair provides a kid’s fun zone that will keep them busy for hours, allowing Mom and Dad to enjoy the music. Don’t forget to arrive early, because starting at 3 PM there will be crowd giveaways and the day’s opening act. Then stick around until 5 PM when Sam Bush hits the stage.
Annual Closing Day Slush Cup. Every year skiers and snowboarders head to Keystone Resort for the one and only Slush Cup. Garbed in wild costumes, they compete for awesome prizes by skimming across a pond strapped to a snowboard or clicked into skis. This thrilling spectator event offers top-notch entertainment that showcases crazy costumes, impressive falls, great commentary and a chance to have one last hoorah at Keystone Resort. Head on over to the Mountain House Base Area by 10 AM Sunday, April 8 for registration followed by the official event starting at 12 PM. A Summit Pass good for the 2012-13 season will be handed out in the categories of Best Costume, Best Crash and Best Overall. Stick around until 3 PM for awards followed by live music brought to you by the Swing Crew at the one of the best après spots at Keystone: Last Lift Bar.
