Exciting Events Highlight February in Keystone, CO

It’s a leap year, and with the extra day, comes extra fun at Keystone Resort, Colorado! The resort is guaranteeing time well spent with a February line-up of festivals, lodging and ski deals. Cocktail aficionados can get into the “spirit” during this vodka tasting event from Three Olives Vodka. Try six of the most popular Three Olives Vodkas while enjoying hors d’oeuvres. A live performance from The Fever will start the night before a DJ takes over to spin while you sip. Doors open at 7pm, with tickets benefitting The Keystone Science School.

Keystone Winter Wine Weekend, February 17-18: It’s back! This guest favorite is a two-day experience in decadence with wine tastings, food and music. It all ends with an amazing chef demo, wine pairing and special dinner. Expand your palate and your music tastes as well.

Budweiser Snow Sculpture Carving Week

January 24-28, 2012 Sculpting Week- Sculpting begins at 11:00 a.m.on Tuesday, January 24 with a shotgun start and sculpting ends on Saturday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will be on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 3:30 p.m.
January 29 - February 5, 2012 Viewing Week - (Please note that visitors are welcome at this free event anytime from January 24 to February 5- not just during viewing week.) During viewing week, the artists are done sculpting, but the sculptures are here for your viewing pleasure. Weather permitting the snow sculptures will stay up until the night of Sunday, February 5, 2012 and then they will disappear under the darkness of night- just as magically as they appeared! We say that viewing week is weather permitting because every once in a while we need to take down a sculpture that is about to fall due to warm weather. Over the past few years we have only taken down one or two sculptures due to weather so it is a pretty good bet that you will be able to see all or most of the sculptures (and without the crowds!).

Breckenridge Ski Resort Opens Upper Mountain Lifts, Adding Additional 250 Acres of Terrain

Today, Breckenridge Ski Resort opened upper mountain lifts the T-Bar and 6 Chair, making local powder dreams come true just in time for this weekend. Thanks to a remarkable effort by the Breckenridge Ski Patrol, 250 new acres of advance terrain served by these lifts is now open. In addition to the recently opened E-Chair, Breck skiers and riders can enjoy this rapid-fire increase of terrain openings in recent days, as Mother Nature has supplied Breck with 14 inches of snow in the last 7 days.

National Weather Service forecasts up to 10 new inches to fall over the weekend at Breckenridge Ski Resort. A chance of snow continues into next week with a low pressure system moving through Colorado.

During a trail run after work, I captured a silhouette of Peak 1 and Peak 2 from a ridge in the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Recreation Area. The Frisco Adventure Park is located on the Peninsula and features a multi-lane tubing hill, terrain park and a 4,000 square foot day lodge. During the summer of 2011, The park added a bike park designed to appeal to all levels of riders and all styles of bikes. Outside the Frisco Adventure Park, the Recreation Area hosts mountain bikers, runners and hikers who enjoy trials winding through the forest and along the shores of Lake Dillon. A ball field with a view of surrounding mountains attracts families and groups. In the winter, the Peninsula is home to the Frisco Nordic Center, a playground for cross-country skiers, snowshoers and biathletes.

This afternoon my wife and I went to A-Basin just before 3 p.m., parked in the front row, got in three runs and finished with a beverage on the sunny deck of the day lodge. Keystone Resort Celebrates the Holidays

Keystone Resort is ringing in the Holiday season in a big way. The celebration begins Friday, December 15 with the unveiling of Keystones’ Executive Pastry Chef Ned Archibald’s famous chocolate village at the Keystone Lodge & Spa. Families will also enjoy the grand opening of the Kidtopia Snow fort atop Dercum Mountain on Thursday, December 22, with the season’s first Kidtopia event kicking off on Friday, December 27. Festive events will animate the resort throughout the Holiday season, including the Keystone Aglow lights and Icestravaganza in the River Run and Lakeside Villages and a presentation of A Christmas Carol at Warren Station. BreckConnect Gondola Opens in Time for the Holiday Weekend

This Friday the Breckenridge Ski Resort’s BreckConnect Gondola will start turning at 9:30 a.m., transporting guests in style up the mountain to the Breckenridge Fun Park. The gondola ride is free and bike transport requires a purchase of a mountain bike haul ticket. Free parking is available for guests in the Gondola North Lot.
Brand new featured attractions this year will also include the inaugural season of Breck 4x4 off-road tours, pony rides for kids, and the first warm-weather operations of the thrilling new GoldRunner Alpine Coaster.
The ponies have officially reached the stable for the holiday weekend; pony rides will be available for the little cowboy or cowgirl starting Wednesday, June 29th.
Also starting this Independence Day Weekend, the Breckenridge Fun Park will extend weekend operating hours until 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from July 1 until August 13. In addition to the full day activity pass, guests will be also now have the option to purchase afternoon entry with the new Twilight Ticket, which is good for evening entry after 3pm, or the Twilight Pass, which permits unlimited weekend visits and rides on the mountain at the Fun Park on weekend afternoons this summer from 3-7:30 p.m.
Also, kicking off this weekend are the all-new Free Music Fridays at the T-Bar, featuring live music, food and drink specials, and different themes every Friday from 4- 7 p.m. during twilight hours. On Saturday every evening this summer, bring the whole family to Chuck Wagon Barbecues on the Ski Hill Grill patio. With live entertainment, face painting, balloons, games and delicious BBQ to wash it all down.

Breckenridge Golf Course opens Friday

This is the notification you have been waiting for –the golf course will open this Thursday for the Little Red Schoolhouse benefit and then open to the public on Friday. It has been quite an adventure for the maintenance crew getting the course ready for your arrival.

Piles of snow will still exist on some edges reminding us of the winter and spring we have endured. You will find some wet spots in fairways, you will find winter damage in some fairways and you will find the greens in great shape. Conditions are improving daily as we finally have had some warm, sunny days.

The conditions will warrant keeping carts on paths for all golfers for an extended period this June. Winter rules in your own fairway are suggested for players and that will be the rule for the first two Ladies’ and Men’s Club events. The first events of the season are scheduled for June 7^th, for the Ladies’ and June 8^th, for the Men.

Other events that occur in early June include; a free clinic for Youth golfers Saturday, June 4, from 9-10:30. Please pre-register by phoning 970-453-9104. The first Mixed Couples event of the season will be held on Saturday, June 11, with tee times starting at 1pm. All mixed couples events this year are 18-hole events. We have merged our Beginners Only and Ladies Night Out programming into Ladies’ Only. The first Ladies’ Only block of tee times is slated for Wednesday, June 8 with tee times starting at 9:30am. Group lesson clinics start next Tuesday for adults and youth golfers.

There are three shotgun events that will limit public tee times. These dates are Friday, June 10, Sunday June 12, and Monday June 13. Please plan your golf schedule accordingly. Tee times for 18-hole play on these days will begin at 1:40. Nine-hole play will be available starting at 11am.

The practice range and putting greens are currently open. Come on out and get you game ready for the course.

If you haven’t yet purchased your punch card for the season, please make sure you allow ample time at the clubhouse for processing before your first round on the course.

Breckenridge, Colo – February 8, 2011- With this morning’s 10 inches of fresh show blanketing the slopes of Breckenridge Ski Resort, the mid-season snow totals have passed the 25 foot mark (the traditional season average) in about half the time it takes to get there… and two of the snowiest months are still ahead.

With that in mind, here are a few fun, mid-season stats:

-Settled Base: 90 inches or 141% of average
-Snowfall month-to-date: 32 inches or 161% of average
-Snowfall season-to-date: 329 inches
-Powder days of 10+ inches: 10 (yearly average is 7)
-Powder days of 20+ inches: 2
-Days left in the season: 74 days
-Closing Day: April 24th

Breckenridge Ski Resort Set to Open Peak 7 this Friday, Dec. 3.

Friday, Dec. 3rd, will mark the third peak of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s four to open for the season, adding 334 acres of intermediate and advanced terrain on Peak 7 just in time for the weekend, and a week earlier than originally scheduled. This will give skiers and riders over 1,500 acres of terrain to choose from across the resort. Skier services at the base of Peak 7 will also be fully operational, located steps from the high-speed, six-passenger Independence SuperChair and the BreckConnect gondola.

The Peak 7 base area is complete with high-end lodging at Crystal Peak Lodge, skier services including ski school, ticket sales and rentals, and sit-down on mountain dining experience at Sevens Restaurant. And in honor of Peak 7’s opening, Sevens is offering their Breakfast Buffet for $12 per person from 8-10 a.m. daily throughout the season, along with Crabby Wednesdays, all-you-can-eat Crab for $25 per person and Après specials Monday through Friday, 4-6 p.m. including $3 Bud and Bud Light Drafts, and half-off select appetizers. Sevens is open daily from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Thanks to the latest winter storm, ski season in Colorado Rockies is off to a record-setting start for resort terrain openings and epic early season skiing and riding conditions at Breckenridge and Keystone Resorts. Twenty inches fell last night at Breckenridge Resort and Keystone Resort received eight inches last night.

Vail Mountain opens Friday with more than 1150 acres and nine lifts on the front side of the mountain. Keystone Resort will also open The Outback terrain Friday—the earliest opening in the resort’s history-- giving Keystone a total of 604 skiable acres.

Breckenridge Resort also opened the T-Bar lift on Peak 8 today which goes down in the record books as the earliest opening of the T-Bar in Breckenridge Resort history. Breckenridge also plans to open additional runs and the Rocky Mountain SuperChair on Friday giving the resort over 500 skiable acres. The 6 Chair should also be open by Saturday along with additional terrain.

BRECKENRIDGE SKI RESORT ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL LIFT & TERRAIN OPENINGS FOR THE WEEK OF 11/16/10

Thanks to accumulation of nearly two feet of snow at Breckenridge Ski Resort in the past two days, the ski area announced today the T-Bar lift on Peak 8 will open to the public tomorrow, November 17, 2011. According to Ski Patrol Director Kevin Ahern, this is the earliest opening for this lift in Breckenridge Ski Resort history. Skiers and riders will be able to access North Bowl out to Forget-Me-Not as well as the hike-to terrain already open.

Additional terrain opening to the public also includes Duke’s, with access back to the Colorado SuperChair. However, there will be no access out from the bottom of the T-Bar (guests must ride the lift) until Friday, November 19th when Northstar and the Rocky Mountain SuperChair open to the public.

The Narrow Road

During 2010, Eddie Bowers is continuing to donate 5% of his net commission from each real estate transaction to “Narrow Road.” Narrow Road is an international aid organization dedicated to serving those in poverty through projects that promote sustainability, awareness, and opportunities for distant communities to grow together. They work in both the East African nation of Uganda and the Central American nation of Honduras. Their work in Uganda includes support of the charitable hospital wing Hope Ward at International Hospital Kampala as well as support of multiple orphanages through projects focusing on education, health, and general well being. In Honduras they work with local partners to facilitate moving homeless families onto their own land and into a newly constructed house. Their efforts are aimed at providing aid in a way that promotes relationships and awareness. Several members of the Summit County community have joined them abroad and taken part in projects to assist those in Uganda and Honduras. Their directors each hold full-time jobs outside of the organization and administrative costs are kept to a minimum. With the efforts of their supporters and volunteers they have helped build homes for the homeless, assisted in financing the first open-heart surgeries in the nation of Uganda, and provided food, health, and educational resources to hundreds of orphans in Uganda. Get Fit with the U.S. Ski Team!Thursday, November 12th at 5:30 pm Join U.S. Ski Team members at the Breckenridge Recreation Center for a fun workout in the 5:30pm BodyPump and Cycling classes and the 6:15pm Yoga class! (Please note: the Yoga class originally scheduled for Carter Park on Thursday evening will take place at the Recreation Center this week only). Get there early! We offer State Licensed after school care and exciting specialty programs for children ages 5-12.

Vail Resorts announced a $10 pricing change for the popular Colorado Pass that went into effect yesterday (Oct. 13, 2009). The adult Colorado Pass price went from $449 to $459 for adults and from $209 to $219 for children. Pricing for the unlimited, unrestricted Epic and Summit Passes remain unchanged - $599 for the six-mountain Epic Pass and $399 for the three-mountain Summit Pass.
